What is a 'Green Wedding'?

Well, it is not two Leprechauns getting married and it doesn't mean you have to get married in a field or that it is a green for 'go for it'.

Generally, it means that you think carefully about the environmental impact of your wedding. Consider some of the things that you think you are supposed to do when you get married, and ask yourself if they are a waste of resources. If so, can you do without them or think of a better alternative.

At Penrhos we have gone a long way to make your wedding eco-friendly but we never compromise on the importance and fun of your special day.

All our food is organic, seasonal, as local as possible and fairtraded.

We source fairtrade organic and biodynamic wines.

We serve organic beers, lager and cider.

Fairtraded and organic teas and coffee.

Juices are made from fruit grown in the UK, apples, pears, blackberries, raspberries and elderberries.

Our florist uses locally grown flowers, we encourage the use of potted plants, which live to see another day and make lovely gifts as a reminder of your day.

Beautiful decorations can be made from fruits and vegetables which can then be juiced for breakfast the next morning!

We can help source natural decorations from wild gathered pine kernels, foliage, seashells and pebbles.

We can provide you with flower petal confetti and beeswax candles.

All the toiletries, towels and sheets in the bedrooms are organic.

We use filtered water in the dining room and the water in the bedrooms comes in corn based plastic or glass bottles.

We use eco friendly cleaning products in the kitchen and laundry. We do not use perfumed or scented wash powders, carpet cleaners or air fresheners.

All food waste, old flowers and greenery go to chickens or an appropriate compost heap or wormery.

All recyclable materials are recycled.

We are pleased to coordinate a taxi service from Hereford Station to Penrhos for guests preferring to use public transport.
